Designed to give HSC graduates the skills to enter an outside broadcast (OB) or studio environment.
What will I study?
This course is designed to skill a novice with an understanding of elementary components of television production such as operation of equipment, crew and production in both outside broadcast and studio environments in the television industry. Students will be introduced to live studio and outside broadcast environments.
What experience will I get?
You will acquire an introductory knowledge of:
• Technical operator roles and production structure in studio and OB • Grip truck operation • Rigging an OB • Staging for studio • OB cable and cabling • OH&S for the OB unit, crew and public.
Upon completion, your trainer will consult with you on the next stage of your development, i.e. continue on to Broadcast Operations – Intermediate; enrol in a relevant TAFE or university course; or the TTOC will provide relevant industry contacts.
What kind of job can I expect?
The successful trainee in Broadcast Operations – Introduction will be eligible to apply for roles like cablehand for rig and derig and staging hand.
What are the entry requirements?
You should be over 18 years old and have completed the HSC.
How often do courses run?
This course runs for 20 days and includes workshop simulation and infield experience. Courses start in March 2010 and will run frequently with the last intake for 2010 in November.
