TTOC Endorsement Print E-mail

IAG_smlThe charter of the Industry Advisory Group (IAG) is to periodically review course content of short courses for Industry Operators. The IAG review technology developments and decide the most effective products to bring to market to meet Industry demand.

The IAG consists of the following member companies:

Having been involved with the TTOC since early 2008, and part of the Industry Advisory Group (IAG), OSB is very keen to see this facility continue. The college has definitely filled the gap in Television Broadcasting training, that really opened up with the major networks change of direction 20 years ago.

The main difference between this college and existing institutions is the ability of students to secure practical "on location" training - mainly via the OB Facilitators within the IAG.

Another positive aspect of the Facility is the flexibility of the actual curriculum. The College was never afraid to change direction if required, and was always very responsive to the IAG comments and recommendations. This was achieved by having both Broadcast savvy management and lecturer's who are still operating in the field - combining this with the IAG, which comprises of every major OB Facilitator in the country; the College definitely has the ability to "keep up with the times".

Fox Sports

I'm the OB Services Manager at Fox Sports. I'm writing to support industry training, particularly the courses initiated by the TTOC. Our outside broadcasts have been used frequently as a training ground for college students, and I'm very supportive of continuing a strong training culture.

We produce more than 600 outside broadcasts around Australia every year. We staff those broadcasts with Fox Sports directors, producers and commentators, and hire the facilities and crew from the many outside broadcast companies (including OSB, Global, Cutting Edge, Gearhouse, OB Group, Digital180 and more).

Crewing managers works closely with the OB companies, and they face a constant battle to effectively source capable freelance operators. The TTOC students offer a breath of fresh air to an industry that has been starved of trainees.

The TTOC initiative provides solutions to the skill problems through not only educating individuals but placing them in-field. This provides potential employers like TRP the opportunity to assess the progress of the students whilst on the job to gauge their understanding, willingness to learn and eagerness to complete the tasks.

TRP throughout 2008 & 2009 have provided the opportunities for students and their trainers to work as part of our Outside Broadcasts both in Melbourne & Sydney.

In no matter what form this dedicated training college emerges in 2010, TRP will again support the TTOC through the new entrant & short coursing to industry professionals.

Without doubt these "ready-to-work" graduates are the preferred option when searching for new staff. I hope through the TTOC and NSI; this continues to provide the Industry with high caliber trained students ready to work.

The TTOC has been instrumental in the identification and development of individuals that benefit the collective industry. I would envisage company’s like GHB being able to offer enhanced support mechanisms in terms of technology on loan and employment opportunities.

GHB management have also had a long standing relationship with Peter Musgrove and his team. The dedication and professionalism in which the College has built its brand is a direct result of the passion and culture Peter has worked tirelessly to achieve.

Cutting Edge

This training facility has been the first and only industry based training organisation to properly address the skills shortfall in the Television industry since industry training was abolished in the 90’s. I have employed a graduate myself from their first year and he has proven to be excellent and is already progressing through the company. His training was broad based which was very useful and employable right way.

The college also facilitates the industry meetings which brings representatives together from all the industry employers. This is a healthy and very necessary part of the operation and ensures course review and relevance checks along the ways. It also provides a very necessary networking opportunity between traditional competitors and seeks to unite the effort for training for our industry.

Peter Musgrove and his team have been working tirelessly at shaping the courses and their application to the New Entrant as well as the freelance and industry short courses. Both have played a part in the education and consistency of the operators in our industry. I highly commend their work.
